Marble Polishing and Crystallisation
Once the process of filling and sealing the stone surface has been completed, and that at least three days have elapsed from the moment they were laid, the marble flagstones will be burnished, finely polished and crystallised.
Process for MARBLE:
1. The surfaces are burnished by means of diamond-tipped abrasives (grit 60 or above) refrigerated by water.
(Marble surfaces may require a previous filling of holes and pores with resin mastic).
2. The first polishing shall be done with abrasives of 80 and 120 grits.
3. After the first polishing is completed, all the pores and jointing are filled again so that the surface get absolutely sealed off (at this stage, the mastic used must be left on the surface at least 72 hours for humid curing).
4. The second polishing shall be done with a resin abrasive of 220 grit, diamond of grit 400 and a coating of abrasive solution which prepares the material for the crystallisation.
5. Lastly, the marble surface is crystallised with a solution of phosphoric acid and natural products that protect the marble. Great care must be taken that the flooring is perfectly dry before the crystallising products are applied. (Waiting time from polishing to crystallising: 90 days).
Granite polishing and crystallising
Once the process of filling and sealing the granite surface has been completed, and that at least three days have elapsed from the moment it was laid, the granite will be burnished, finely polished and crystallised.
1. The surfaces are burnished by means of diamond-tipped abrasives (100grit) refrigerated by water.
2. Then, the granite is polished by means of a magnesium carbonate abrasive (1,500 grit) before it is finely polished with an appropriate solution that confers it a perfect finish. (Waiting time from first polishing to last polishing: none).
